Individual & Family Donations
How much of my gift will go toward scholarships?
What criteria must my gift meet to be tax-deductible?
- You must actually donate cash or property before December 31st to claim a deduction on your tax return for that tax year. A pledge is not deductible.
- You must contribute to a qualified tax-exempt organization. Kids’ Chance of South Carolina is a 501(C)3 tax-exempt organization as recognized by the IRS.
- You must be able to itemize. Giving to a charity is a great tax planning strategy, but it only applies to those individuals eligible to itemize their deductions.
- You must meet record keeping requirements. This includes saving canceled checks, acknowledgment letters from the charity, and appraisals for donated property.
Employer matching gifts
More than 11,000 U.S. companies have matching gifts programs. These companies recognize the importance of private support for worthy non-profit organizations through charitable support and will match the gifts their employees make to Kids’ Chance. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees.
If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift to our organization may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.
What if I am unable to afford a large gift amount and can I set up monthly donations?
Kids’ Chance of South Carolina appreciates donations of every size… none are too small and we love all of our partners! In these times, many people prefer to just have a payment automatically charged to their bank account or credit card. We’ve made that option available for our supporters… we want to make it easy for you to give and support Kids’ Chance! To make a payment online and to set up a monthly payment, CLICK HERE.
